Intensive Seminars that cater to students' different learning styles.


ACT Intensive

Review the content, learn techniques and strategies, and perfect your timing. Focus on

  • grammar, syntax, punctuation, and usage

  • reading comprehension, analysis, and inferential skills

  • methods, concepts, and formulas from algebra, geometry, and trig

  • scientific methods in biology, chemistry, and physics

  • outlining, organizing, and supporting the essay


  • Always runs the week before the June ACT. (Mon-Thurs)

    Verbal: 2:00-4:00 p.m.
    Math/science: 4:00-6:00 p.m.
    Mini Practice test: Friday at 10 a.m., no charge (but please reserve your spot)

    Workshopping the College Essay: An Intensive Seminar

    Borrowing the Intensives idea from our very successful ACT and SAT courses, our College Essay class runs as a writer's workshop: students attend for several hours a day on consecutive days, brainstorming, drafting, and revising one or several essays. Class size limited to 8.

    Typically runs during the first full week of August. (Mon-Fri)
    Mon/Tues/Wed/Th 7-9 pm, Fri 4-6 pm.

    One-on-One Tutoring, Inc., was founded in 1991 by Jacqueline Gross, M.F.A., M.A.T. As president and academic coordinator, Jackie leads the "team approach" that helps One-on-One create effective, individualized education for students. She has taught at secondary, undergraduate, and graduate levels, ranging from small, special-education forums to large lectures. Working one-on-one with students and their families, counselors, and teachers is her greatest passion.
